A beautiful and common snake, the common kingsnake is a highly variable
species of kingsnake. The name kingsnake implies that the snake
can eat pretty much anything it wants, which includes anything from
rodents and small birds to lizards and other snakes. Oklahoma is home
to two subspecies, the speckled kingsnake, L. g. holbrooki
(pictured), and the desert kingsnake, L. g. splendida.
