1/2 of the state. The southern leopard frog is a common inhabitant
of ponds and lakes. Primarily a nocturnal species, the southern
leopard frog can be found quite a distance from water, such as in
lawns and flower gardens. They can be heard during their breeding
season (fall-spring) as the males "chuckle". |
