| Cave systems in the extreme northeast portion of the state. Although most plethodontid salamanders live somewhat solitary lives, the cave salamander can be found in large abundance in caves. Often, they cohabitate with the dark-sided salamander. The cave salamander, true to its name, is found deep within caves, but may be found near the mouth of the cave. |
