Central, northeast, and southwest Oklahoma, as well as the western
panhandle, with a small distribution in southeast Oklahoma. A highly
variable snake, the ground snake can be plain brown to orange-brown,
with or without a reddish mid-dorsal line or black saddles. A fossorial
snake, it prefers to hide under rocks or logs during the day, while
foraging at night for insects and other small arthropods. |
