Distribution
 Disjunct distribution in southwest Oklahoma and western panhandle. The red spotted toad is the only toad in Oklahoma to have round parotoid glands, the large bumps behind each eye. Highly adapted to extremely dry conditions, it is found in rocky terrain to the short grass prairie.
